Earlier in the week, he was awarded European Tour Honorary Life Membership to the European Tour, and he followed that up with an outstanding win at the Andalucia Valderrama Masters, hosted by his own Foundation. A delighted Sergio dedicated his win to his new wife, Angela Akins, who is also expecting with their first child. Garcia seems like a different animal on the golf course these days, and with a happy love life and the pressure of winning a major off his back, Garcia is free to make best use of his extraordinary talents. It was a magnificent ball-striking display on a tight and tricky Valderrama, a layout which requires the golfer to have total control over their ball. With three rounds in the 60s, Garcia showed his entire arsenal of iron shots, from pure long irons to pinpoint three-quarter short irons. Shane Lowry, who played with Garcia in the opening two rounds, was in awe of Garcia's ball-striking. "You just have to stand back and admire," Lowry said. "I think he's one of the, if not the most, impressive ball-striker in the world". A
